Guwahati: Former Minister Ardhendu Kumar Dey Passes Away

Guwahati: Former Assam Minister Ardhendu Kumar Dey passed away in Guwahati at the age of 84 years here on Wednesday.

As per reports, he was undergoing treatment at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

He had held the portfolios of Supplies and Irrigation Minister in the Assam Cabinet.

Dey was also a doctor and obtain his degree from the University of Calcutta and was elected as MLA for the first time in the Assam Legislative Assembly election from the Hojai constituency in 1991.

From 1991 to 2006 he served as an MLA and later in April 2021, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In 2011, he was again elected to the state legislative assembly.
